On August 26, at approximately 10:30 AM, a debris flow triggered from the Nepalese side caused significant casualties and left individuals missing at the Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet.

In response, the Tibet branch of China Unicom immediately activated its emergency communication contingency plan, dispatching rescue teams to the site to carry out disaster relief operations. They also conducted comprehensive inspections of key communication facilities, including trunk optical cables and core equipment rooms.

By 5:00 PM on August 26, two maintenance staff from the China Unicom Gyirong County service center had arrived at the disaster area, equipped with 2 kilometers of optical cable, one fusion splicer, and one optical time-domain reflectometer. Simultaneously, six rescue personnel from the China Unicom Shigatse branch were en route with two emergency support vehicles, two satellite phones, one portable satellite station, 6 kilometers of optical cable, two fusion splicers, and one optical time-domain reflectometer. The Tibet branch of China Unicom has also prepared additional support resources in anticipation of further needs.
