Amazon.com (AMZN) plans to expand fulfillment capacity, same-day delivery and its logistics network in Canada despite escalating trade tensions between the US and Canada, Business Insider reported Wednesday, citing internal company documents.

According to the report, Amazon expects Canadian package volume to grow more than 40% from 2026 to 2029, with growth outpacing the US as it targets faster delivery to compete with Walmart, Loblaws and Best Bu.

Amazon had already shifted some Canadian direct-import sourcing from the US to China to avoid tariffs and continues to monitor the impact of new Canadian tariffs and potential retaliatory measures, the report added.

Amazon did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
